Hello and welcome to the AJSS Chemistry Module for Summer 2009!
Please fill up and send to me by email a copy of the student profile sheet: MS Word XP <student_profile_sheet_word.doc> or Open Office <student_profile_sheet_openoffice.odt>. Thanks!
Assignment for Tuesday, April 21 class:
- Come in proper lab attire (closed shoes, long pants, shirts with sleeves, long hair or long bangs secured).
- Bring a piece of fabric for tie-dyeing: plain white or very pale colored cotton. Anything from a hanky to a shirt or any other piece is fine.
- Lab aprons will be provided so you don’t have to bring any.
- You might want to bring wooden dowels/ sticks, coins, and other aids to making your tie-dye pattern.
- To speed things up, you might want to bring large, gallon-sized metal ice cream containers for the dye.
Assignment for Thu, 23 April class:
Blue Printing Template:
Make a design stencil (maximum size- 15cm x 15cm). Note that the cut-out or transparent sections will be the sections that will be colored blue, so a “negative” image would work better. Bring your design stencil to the lab session.
· Option 1: Use an opaque cardboard material and make a stencil by cutting out the parts to be colored blue.
· Option 2: Make a design on a transparency (acetate) by hand-drawing, photocopying, or printing via computer. You can make some regions more opaque by marking it with a permanent black marker.
See you!
